ABOUT THE EVENT

As Black people, our celebration is strategy, our community is power, our joy is our freedom.

Come celebrate the Black Feminist Fund’s 5th Year Anniversary. Black feminist poet and activist June Jordan said, “We are the ones we have been waiting for.”

As we celebrate, we are guided by this theme, and we invite you into beloved community to catalyze solidarity and action. This celebration is one you cannot miss–Black joy, incredible food, music, visual art, poetry, and summer sun by the river.

the black feminist fund

Established in 2021, the Black Feminist Fund is the first global fund moving impactful funding directly to leaders.

From girls organising in Somalia, advancing deaf women’s rights in Kenya, mobilising Afro-Colombian women survivors of armed conflict to reproductive justice leaders in the UK - Black feminists are leading necessary work and deserve to be resourced abundantly.

In just five years, we have mobilised over $50 million USD to over 120 movement partners in over 50 countries, including the UK.

The Bingham Riverhouse is the UK’s only Black woman-owned hotel and members’ club. Sama Tinder took the business over from her British father and Kenyan mother in 2001.

The venue

nourish & revel

The menu will be a love letter to the African and Caribbean diaspora, curated by the trailblazing Adejoké Bakare — the UK's first Black woman to earn a Michelin Star — in collaboration with Future Plate: House of African & Caribbean Cuisine & Culture. Libations will be provided by Matugga Rum Distillery, Amandla Wines, and Vusa Vodka— all proudly Black-owned. The space itself will bloom with the artistry of Floral Evolution.

Guests will also have the opportunity to bid for a free portrait by Misan Harriman, renowned photographer, social activist in his own right, and one of the most compelling visual storytellers of our time.
